Introspection: A Journey in Clay and Calm
When I first sculpted a meditating face, it was born from a period where my own practice was just beginning. There was a certain tension, a clenched quality in that early work, a reflection of the stress and effort that often accompanies the initial stages of deep focus. That first piece, while meaningful, truly captured where I was at that moment.
Now, almost two years later, with the continued practice of meditation having profoundly reduced my own stress, I've returned to that theme with a new perspective. This stoneware ceramic sculpture, titled "Introspection," embodies that evolution. Crafted from the same beautiful, earthy stoneware clay, this piece presents a much calmer, more serene female portrait. Her eyes are peacefully closed, not in struggle, but in a profound sense of inner quiet. Her hair is gently tied back, allowing the subtle planes of her face to speak volumes about a mind at ease.
